Five ways to protect yourself from banking fraud

Cairo Bank Uganda will never ask for your PIN, password or one-time code. Here is how to spot and avoid the most common scams targeting our customers.

Fraudsters increasingly target bank customers through phone calls, SMS and social media pretending to be Cairo Bank Uganda staff. Here is what to know and do.

Cairo Bank Uganda will never ask you to: share your PIN, password, card CVV or one-time verification code with anyone, including staff; move money to a "safe account" to protect it; click a link in an SMS or WhatsApp message to "reactivate" or "verify" your account.

Five practical steps. Verify the channel: only trust cbu.co.ug, our official social media pages, and our published toll-free line, 0800 211 025.

Never share one-time codes: any code sent to you is meant for you alone, even if the caller claims to be from the Bank or Bank of Uganda.

Check the sender, not just the name: fraudulent SMS and email senders often mimic our name with a slightly different number or address.

Report suspicious contact immediately: call 0800 211 025 or visit your nearest branch if you suspect fraud.

Review your statements regularly through Internet and Mobile Banking and report anything unfamiliar without delay.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately so we can help secure it.
