Open an Account
Everything you need to know before you open a Cairo Bank Uganda account - what to have ready, the steps involved, and what happens after you apply.
Before you start, have these ready
- A valid national ID (NIN), passport, or other government-issued identification.
- Your phone number and email address.
- An idea of which account or product you want - the product finder can help you choose.
- Proof of income or business registration for certain account types.
- Digital copies of your ID and any supporting documents (JPG, PNG, HEIC or PDF, up to 10 MB each).
The application has six short steps
- Your details - name, contact and date of birth.
- Product or account type - the account you want to open.
- Identity - your ID number and residency details.
- Upload your ID and supporting documents.
- Declaration and consent - accuracy of information and data processing.
- Review and submit - check your answers before anything is sent.
What happens after you apply
Submitting the form does not open the account. A member of our Customer Experience team contacts you to verify your details and arrange identity confirmation (KYC).
Most accounts are activated within 1 to 3 business days once all required documents are confirmed, though this can vary. Fees depend on the account type - see the rates and tariffs page.
